Responding to the natural world, Joan Branca translates the intensity of this experience into lush canvases filled with energetic and colorful brushstrokes. Whether along Long Island's north shore, or on the islands of Maine or Sicily, Ms.Branca fixes in paint her experience of a sense of place, of light and color.
